  • Best for churches that use the RCL in worship
  • Designed for households and individuals
  • Next step: Compare Church Year vs. Program Year, then choose the package that fits your planning calendar.

What Is Taking Faith Home?

Taking Faith Home (TFH) is a set of weekly devotional resources that help people at home (and in other settings) structure household and individual daily devotions. Each TFH resource includes:

  • A weekly theme, Scripture verse, and hymn
  • Daily Bible readings
  • Questions to spark caring conversations
  • A devotional reflection
  • A service idea
  • Rituals and traditions
  • A prayer of the week, mealtime prayer, and blessing
How Churches Share Taking Faith Home (Bulletin Insert + PDF)

Most congregations distribute TFH by printing it as a double-sided, half-sheet and placing it in their worship bulletin (which is why it’s often called a “bulletin insert”).

Each week’s resource is also provided as an individual PDF file, so you can:

Why Use Taking Faith Home?

TFH is a great fit if:

  1. Your congregation uses the Revised Common Lectionary in worship, and
  2. You want people to keep growing in faith when they’re not in church.

TFH doesn’t form faith in people by itself, but it does support ongoing faith practices. In multi-person homes (families with or without children, roommates, partners, etc.), it can help individuals grow while also helping the household grow in faith together.

Church Year vs. Program Year: Which Should We Buy?

Spirit & Truth offers TFH in two planning formats so churches can purchase in the way they schedule ministry: Church Year (liturgical calendar) and Program Year (Sept–May).

Church Year follows the liturgical calendar: Advent → Christ the King.
Program Year follows the typical education calendar: Fall → Spring (Sept–May).

Quick rule of thumb:

  • Choose Church Year if you plan resources by the liturgical year (Advent start).
  • Choose Program Year if you plan faith formation around the school year (Sept–May).
Why Does “Taking Faith Home” Sound Familiar?

TFH is based on the Four Key Faith Practices, which came out of the doctoral work of the Rev. Dr. David W. Anderson. The Four Key Faith Practices are:

  • Caring conversations
  • Devotions
  • Service
  • Rituals and Traditions

Until December 31, 2025, Taking Faith Home was written and published by Milestones Ministry, LLC. The owners—David Anderson, Debbie Streicher, and their spouses—cherish this work, and they’ve moved this resource to Spirit & Truth Publishing as David and his wife, Gloria, retire and Debbie and her husband, Burt, focus their energy on their Milestone Moments faith formation resources.

The Taking Faith Home resources currently available (through November 2026) were written by David, Debbie, Gloria, and Burt and published in September 2025. We here at Spirit & Truth Publishing will begin updating and revising past TFH resources for the 2026-2027 years.

What Are Our Purchase Options?

Option 1: Taking Faith Home – Church Year (Liturgical Year)

A church year begins with the first Sunday of Advent and ends with Christ the King Sunday. The Revised Common Lectionary is a three-year cycle labeled Years A, B, and C.

We are continuing Milestones’ Church Year package as:

Option 2: Taking Faith Home – Program Year (Sept-May planning)

Because Spirit & Truth Publishing focuses mainly on Christian education resources that run from September through May, we’re offering Program Year packages that align with that planning rhythm:

The Program Year packages are perfect for Spirit & Truth customers using (or interested in using) our two RCL products:

*Since we have acquired TFH in the middle of the 2025-2026 program year (near the end of the winter quarter), we are not offering a Full Program Year option this year. For the rest of the 2025-2026 program year, you can purchase the Winter, Spring, Summer, and Lent (included in the Spring quarter) separately.
